Marya Grandy Joins Cast of York Theatre Company's CLOSER THAN EVER, 10/13-11/4

The York Theatre Company in association with Edward Negley, Neil Berg and Adam Friedson, welcomes Marya Grandy (Les Misérables, Damn Yankees) to the cast of Closer Than Ever with Lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Music by David Shire, filling in for Jacquelyn Piro Donovan from October 13 – November 4, due to a prior commitment.

With direction by Mr. Maltby, associate direction and choreography by Kurt Stamm and music direction by Andrew Gerle, the cast also features George Dvorsky (The Scarlet Pimpernel) Anika Larsen (Xanadu, All Shook Up, Avenue Q) and Sal Viviano (The Full Monty). Now in performance through November 25, 2012 at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire's musical treasure Closer Than Ever opened in June at the York Theatre Company with an exciting new cast and fresh additions to the timeless score. An intimate revue about love, friendship, security, happiness – and holding onto those essentials in a world that pulls us in a hundred directions at once – the York's Closer Than Ever is the homecoming of an Off-Broadway classic.

Celebrities that have recently been spotted at Closer Than Ever include: Joan Rivers, Linda Lavin, Michael Feinstein, Kathie Lee Gifford, Judy Collins, Doris Roberts, Jonathan Tunick, John Kander, Karen Akers, Donna McKechnie, Hal Prince, John McMartin, Tovah Feldshuh, Christian Borle, Seth Rudetsky, Karen Ziemba, Cady Huffman, Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Sondheim, Danny Burstein, Rebecca Luker, Hunter Foster, Jenn Cody, Charles Strouse, Sheldon Harnick, Nancy Ford, Tom Jones, and more! A new cast album will be released by JAY Records.

The creative team includes James Morgan (set), Nicole Wee (costumes), and Kirk Bookman (lights). The Production Stage Manager is Bernita Robinson.

Closer Than Ever plays the following performance schedule Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. & 8:00 p.m, and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.

Marya Grandy Broadway/New York credits include Les Misérables (2006 Revival), Damn Yankees, Bells Are Ringing (City Center Encores!), The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Drama Desk Nomination), and The Water Coolers (co-author). Regional credits include Fanny Brice: America's Funny Girl, Pump Boys & Dinettes, Follies, Take Flight, Gypsy, Beehive, Smokey Joe's Café, The Honky Tonk Angels, Working, and The Water Coolers (Joseph Jefferson Nomination). Television/film credits: "Rescue Me," "Conviction," "Law & Order," "Law & Order: SVU," "Denis Leary's Merry F***ing Christmas," and Love Streams. Recordings include The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Bodies and Souls, and Superwoman, by her own band, Five Floor Monica. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Yale University.
