Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) will continue its 27th season with the New York premiere of the new play, Motherhood Out Loud, conceived by Susan R. Rose and Joan Stein. Directed by Lisa Peterson, the cast will feature Mary Bacon, Saidah Arrika Ekulona, Randy Graff and James Lecesne.

Performances begin Tuesday, September 20, 2011 for a limited run through Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Opening night is set for Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

When entrusting the subject of motherhood to such a dazzling collection of celebrated American writers, what results is a joyous, moving, hilarious, and altogether thrilling theatrical play. Utterly unpredictable, Motherhood Out Loud shatters traditional notions about parenthood, unveils its inherent comedy and celebrates the deeply personal truths that span and unite generations. Motherhood Out Loud reveals with illuminating insight the humor, raw emotions and rocky roads we experience in life. Written by Leslie Ayvazian, David Cale, Jessica Goldberg, Beth Henley, Lameece Issaq, Claire LaZebnik, Lisa Loomer, Michele Lowe, Marco Pennette, Theresa Rebeck, Luanne Rice, Annie Weisman and Cheryl L. West, under the direction of Lisa Peterson, Motherhood Out Loud received its triumphant World Premiere at Hartford Stage and recently completed its West Coast premiere at the Geffen Playhouse (as In Mother Words).

The creative team includes Rachel Hauk (Set), David C. Woolard (Costumes), Christopher Kuhl (Lights), Jill B.C. DuBoff (Sound), Jan Hartley (Projections), Emily Hubley (Animation) and Donald S. Fried (Production Stage Manager).
