Cole Mining: The Songs of Stephen Cole will be presented as part of Urban Stages' Winter Rhythms tomorrow, December 3, 2014 at 7pm at Urban Stages 259 W. 30th Street.

The evening of songs with lyrics by award winning musical theatre writer Stephen Cole (Inventing Mary Martin, The Road to Qatar! After the Fair, The Night of the Hunter) will feature music and accompaniment by his collaborators, Todd Ellison (Spamalot, Annie, Black and White Ball), David Evans (Birds of Paradise), David Krane (Into the Woods, Chicago films, The Road to Qatar!), Jeffrey Saver (Dodsworth) and Matthew Martin Ward (After the Fair). The late Claibe Richardson (The Night of the Hunter, Saturday Night at Grossinger's & The Grass Harp) will also be represented.

The songs from such shows as After the Fair, Dodsworth, The Road to Qatar!, Saturday Night at Grossinger's, The Night of the Hunter and works in progress such as: By the Book, Merman's Apprentice & The Black and White Ball will be performed by Marni Nixon (Hollywood's Ghostess with the Mostess), Klea Blackhurst (Hello, Dolly at Goodspeed, The Nutty Professor), George Dvorsky (Passion, Scarlet Pimpernel, The Fantasticks), Lynne Halliday (Inventing Mary Martin, The Rothschilds), Sara Zahn, Colleen Zenk (As the World Turns, Bring Back Birdie), Barbara Minkus (Education of Hyman Kaplan, Saturday Night at Grossinger's), Scott Thompson (42nd Street), Maureen Taylor, Erin Cronican, Liz Rubino, Jim Stanek (The Story of My Life, Little Women), Lindsay Roberts (Memphis, Porgy and Bess) and Stephen Cole & David Krane

Stephen Cole has been represented in New York by Inventing Mary Martin, The Road to Qatar! After the Fair, The Night of the Hunter (NYMTF starring Beth Fowler and Dee Hoty) and Piano Bar (The Triad). Qatar, Hunter and After the Fair have played regionally as well, with Hunter being recorded. Also with Jeff Saver, Stephen had the pleasure of writing the only original song in the recent Tommy Tune musical 54Forever. Stephen has also written Saturday Night at Grossinger's (produced in LA, Long Island, Dallas and Florida), Dodsworth (produced at Casa Manana starring Hal Linden and Dee Hoty), Casper (Pittsburgh CLO and Summer tour starring Chita Rivera), Rock Odyssey and others. His published books include That Book about That Girl, I Could Have Sung All Night (with Marni Nixon) and Put on a Happy Face by Charles Strouse. Stephen's current projects include Merman's Apprentice (with David Evans) and The Black and White Ball (with Todd Ellison), By the Book (with David Krane) and his awards include the Edward Kleban Award for his libretto of The Night of the Hunter and a Gilman-Gonzales Falla Commendation for After the Fair.
