BroadwayWorld has learned that Playwrights Horizon held a reading of SENSE AND SENSIBILITY The Musical yesterday, June 23. The musical is produced by Betty Ann Besch-Solinger and Alice Walsh. SENSE & SENSIBILITY features a book and lyrics by Jeffrey Haddow and music by Neal Hampton.
Tony nominee Marcia Milgrom (Ragtime) helmed the reading, which featured Christiane Noll (Elinor Dashwood), Brandi Burkhardt (Marianne Dashwood), Robert Petkoff (Colonel Brandon), Sebastian Arcelus (Edward Ferras), and Jeremiah James (John Willoughby).
Additional cast members included Jim Brochu (Sir John), Mary Testa (Mrs. Jennings), Erin Mackey (Lucy Steele), Erin Maguire (Fanny Dashwood), Jamie LaVerdiere (John Dashwood), Kay Walbye (Mrs. Dashwood/Mrs. Ferrars), Janna Cardia, Chris Critelli, Christy Morton and Edward Prostak.
Based on Jane Austen's 'Sense and Sensibility,' the new musical captures the love lives of Marianne and Elinor and their journey to truth and happiness.
