The Elsewhere Ensemble and 59E59 Theaters present His Majesty, the Devil - a play with music by Alexandra Devon, inspired by Dostoyevsky - at this year's East to Edinburgh.

A mysterious gentleman visits a young terrorist on the eve preceding destruction. The young man has prepared his bomb. A game of cat and mouse begins. Wit, wisdom, foolishness and drama explode into a war of ideas between old and new, between generations and beliefs.

In a world where terrorism and attacks have become a constant threat, from Sandy Hook to the Boston Bombers, this play, inspired by Dostoyevsky's "The Brothers Karamazov" and "The Devils" could not be more relevant today. Accompanied by live violin and viola played by the actors themselves, the play blurs the lines between theatre and concert creating a rich dialogue.

This production features accomplished Broadway actor MacIntyre Dixon, acting opposite his son, Colin Pip Dixon, violinist, actor and composer for the show. They set out with this production in the spirit of continuing the work of Alexandra Devon, playwright, actress... wife and mother who passed away in 2010. MacIntyre Dixon and Alexandra Devon have spent their lives in the theatre working with theatre legends Ionesco, Thornton Wilder, Tyrone Guthrie and Paul Sills, to name a few. Also featured in the show is French violist Arnaud Ghillebaert who has performed with orchestras such as the Academy of St Martin in the fields and the London Symphony. The production is directed by Mathilde Schennen, with Rafael Svarin serving as assistant director.

The Elsewhere Ensemble is an international, intergenerational, interdisciplinary music-based group. This production brings together artists from Belgium, France, Switzerland and the United States.

His Majesty, the Devil is part of East to Edinburgh. The production will then travel to Scotland where it will be part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from August 5th - 17th. For more about the production, visit www.hismajestythedevil.wordpress.com, or click HERE.
