After opening to critical acclaim, My Name is Asher Lev, the new play adapted from the novel by Chaim Potok (The Chosen) has just announced that the show has been extended through May 26, 2013. A NEW BLOCK OF TICKETS for the extension will available for one week exclusively through GILT at www.giltcity.com, before going on sale to the general public on December 26th.

Directed by Gordon Edelstein (The Glass Menagerie), the production at The Westside Theatre (upstairs) features Ari Brand (Broadway Bound, directed by David Cromer), who plays Asher Lev in this breakout performance. The New York Post praises him "With his dark eyes burning, Ari Brand brings a sincere intensity, in one of the most affecting performances of the year". Mark Nelson (nine Broadway productions including After The Fall, The Invention of Love, A Few Good Men; Obie Award winner for Picasso at the Lapin Agile) is "excellent" writes Associated Press and Jenny Bacon (Heartless, Omnium Gatherum) "appears lit from within" - Associated Press.

Set in post-war Brooklyn, My Name is Asher Lev tells the coming- of-age story of a boy prodigy who must be an artist at any cost -- against the will of family, community and tradition. It is the powerful telling of a young artist with a universal theme to follow our passion - against everything.

The distinguished creative team for My Name is Asher Lev includes set design by Eugene Lee (Wicked); lighting design by James F. Ingalls(Glengarry Glen Ross); costume design by Ilona Somogyi (Clybourne Park) and original music/sound design by John Gromada (Gore Vidal's The Best Man, Proof). Producers include Darren Bagert, Martin Massman, Ruth Hendel, Daryl Roth, Sharon Karmazin, Joan Raffe & Jhett Tolentino, HIGHBROW, Ted Snowdon and Jamie deRoy.
