Musical Momentum, a very unique benefit concert series, will kick-off with its first event True Colors: A Benefit/Fundraiser for the Trevor Project at the Laurie Beechman Theater in New York on Sunday 29th April at 9:30pm.
Each event in the Musical Momentum concert series will feature acclaimed Broadway performers, top cabaret performers, including MAC Award Winners and more, all performing live to raise money for various worthy charitable organizations, the first being The Trevor Project.
Musical Momentum will follow-up this April 29th event with a second Trevor Project benefit concert in mid June. The Musical Momentum series is being produced by Angelica Page and Jason Morris, in association with Barbara Ligeti.
Actress/performer Angelica Page is known as New York theater royalty. Her mother was the legendary Geraldine Page and Angelica is also a lifetime board member of The Actors Studio.
She is currently featured in The Best Man on Broadway, along with James Earl Jones, Angela Lansbury, Candice Bergen, John Larroquette and Eric McCormack. She also just finished a very successful production playing the lead in the Off-Broadway comedy Psycho Therapy at the Cherry Lane Theater.
Jason Morris has been performing on the New York stage and producing events for years and Barbara Ligeti is a very successful theater and film producer.
This first concert in the series, True Colors: A Benefit/Fundraiser for the Trevor Project, will feature live performances by Broadway/Off-Broadway singers/actors including Angelica Page (The Best Man, August: Osage County Nat'l Tour), Brent Barrett (Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago), Corey Loftus (Seussical Nat'l Tour), Francesca McGrory (Freckleface), Johnny Stellard (Evita, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn), and Marcia-ElizaBeth Thompson (STOMP).
Cabaret performers will include: Marion Markham, Jason Morris, Julie Reyburn (4-Time MAC Award/JulieWilson Award Winner), and Tracy Stark (6-Time MAC Award Winner).
Musical artists include: Drew Gasparini (composer, recording artist), Christopher Keller (singer/songwriter, recording artist), and Grace McLean (singer-songwriter, recording artist).
Musical direction is helmed by Broadway Musical Director Eugene Gwozdz (Baby). The evening will also feature special appearances/surprise guests, along with an appearance by
James Lecesne, co-founder of The Trevor Project & the screenwriter of the Trevor film.
The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth. The Trevor Project is determined to end suicide among LGBTQ youth by providing life-saving and life-affirming resources including our nationwide, 24/7 crisis intervention lifeline, digital community and advocacy/educational programs that create a safe, supportive and positive environment for everyone.
Musical Momentum is a benefit concert series, created by Jason Morris (aided by the wonderful assistance of Angelica Page, Barbara Ligeti, Tracy Stark, and Eugene Gwozdz), utilizing the endless talent of theatrical/film/television/cabaret performers with other emerging musical artists, to raise money for worthwhile causes. Musical Momentum is starting 2012 with two benefit shows for The Trevor Project, with other concerts already slated for the late summer and early autumn to beneift P.A.V.E. (Promoting Awareness and Victim Empowerment).
