Now that the July 4th celebrations have finished, it's time to get back to enjoying all the theatre New York City has to offer, and what better way to do so than with the Ninth Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival, running from July 14 through August 10th, and presenting approximately 50 shows (you could say one for each state) in seven different venues, all within walking distance of one another.

The Festival website (www.midtownfestival.org) has been completely redesigned and updated, offering such items as downloadable press kits and photos, as well as the latest ticket information, show times and other information for your convenience.

With possibly the best lineup in Festival history, "This looks to be a banner year for the MITF," noted John Chatterton, founder and executive producer of the Festival. "We have a wide selection of plays for our audience to sample, from comedies to revivals, from one-person shows to full-scale musicals, definitely something for everybody's taste. It's our fondest hope people stopping in to check out one show will come back for at least one or two more."

Shows presented at this year's MITF include:

·                    Musicals about Cleopatra, a modern day Phileas Fogg, and love in such divergent locales as a forgotten Grecian isle and in the corporate workplace

·                    Comedies dealing with dysfunctional families and shopaholics; a new take on the classic story of The Prince and The Pauper; a writer struggling to come up with his next hit play; two guys who think they have the perfect sitcom; and a tale about a ruthless paintball assault.

·                    Dramas dealing with depression and mental health (a hot topic this year); a woman who may be being driven mad by her wallpaper; the lasting racial effects of a 19th-century minstrel stage show; and two short pieces by Argentinean playwright Griselda Gambaro about love and life

·                    Revivals of the 1961 Broadway comedy A Shot in the Dark; a series of comedic one-acts by Anton Chekhov; scenes from Alan Ayckbourn's Intimate Exchanges and a new look at Shakespeare's As You Like It.

·                    Solo shows dealing with dysfunctional families; trying to find an apartment in Manhattan; coming of age; and the myths and realities of motherhood.

Complete information on all the shows that are being presented at MITF9 is available on our website at www.midtownfestival.org. The Ninth Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival will take place at the WorkShop Theater's MainStage Space, The June Havoc and Dorothy Strelsin Theatres and the TBG Theatre (all located at 312 West 36th Street, between 8th & 9th Avenues, on the 4th, 1st and 3rd floors, respectively); The Where Eagles Dare Theatre and Where Eagles Dare Studio Theatre, located at 347 West 36th Street (between 8th & 9th Avenues) on the ground and 13th floors of that building; and Stage Left Studio, located at 438 West 37th Street, 5th Floor, between 9th & 10th Avenues.

Tickets to all MITF Shows are $18.00, $15.00 for students and seniors. Reservations can be made by calling 212-279-4200 or by going to www.ticketcentral.com.

Members of the press are welcome at all performances. We hope you have the chance to partake of this bountiful crop of shows (many of them world premieres) that is the Ninth Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival.
