2.5 Minute Ride, the roller coaster play by Lisa Kron, will have an Off-Broadway engagement in 2008, with performances beginning Friday, January 18, at Altered Stages (212 West 29th Street). The production marks the first New York mounting of the solo play since Kron's own triumphant Public Theatre engagement in 1999, and stars Nicole Golden with direction by Matt M. Morrow.
In 2.5 Minute Ride, Brooklyn, Sandusky and Auschwitz collide in an hilarious and poignant tale of one woman's journey on the thrill ride that is family.
Lisa Kron is the critically acclaimed playwright whose works include Well, 101 Humiliating Stories, Charity and Montecore, 43/13, and Martha. She has received such honors as two Tony Award nominations, the OBIE Award, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations, an L.A. Drama-Logue Award, and the GLAAD Media Award for Best Play on or off Broadway. Kron is the recipient of several playwriting fellowships and grants and now teaches playwriting at Yale Drama School.
2.5 Minute Ride features set design by Mark Erbaugh (Art Director, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy), Lighting Design by Gina Scherr (Safe in Hell, Yale Rep) and Sound Design by Amy Altadonna (The Unmentionables, Yale Rep) with Production Stage Manager Andrea Dionne.
