Lincoln Center Shares Lineup of LC Kids 2018-2019 Season Image

Lincoln Center today announced its 2018/19 LC Kids season, featuring more than 20 performances by artists from New York and around the globe, including ticketed and free events across theater, dance, and music. The diverse lineup of intimate and interactive experiences for children and families runs from this October through June 2019, and includes specific performances adapted for neurodiverse audiences.

This season, LC Kids expands its offerings to a wider spectrum of age ranges with performances for teens age 12 and up, who will learn the classics with the reinvented Greek tragedy Antigone by Classical Theatre of Harlem; travel through time with an 11-piece orchestra in a cultural retrospective of the African-American experience in Soundtrack '63 by Soul Science Lab; and experience an award-winning, one-person performance with puppetry, animation, and music in The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer.

Building upon last season's first LC Kids performances for babies, this year infants and toddlers up to 36 months will be able to experience interactive performances such as Rain, an intimate sensory experience of music, touch, and performance for pre-walkers by Australia's Drop Bear Theatre, and Pulsar, a unique show that invites babies and toddlers into a safe, friendly space ready for creative exploration by Teatro al Vacío.

Little kids ages 3 through 5 will be able to enjoy Scurry, a new play by Trusty Sidekick Theater Company-familiar to Lincoln Center audiences from the commissions Up and Away and Campfire; and a dance-theater piece, Shh...Bang! by England's Peut-Être Theatre-recommended for ages 2 through 5. In addition to these ticketed events, little kids and their families will be able to see some of the best bands in the family music scene at the free Saturdays at the David Rubenstein Atrium.

Kids ages 6 through 12 will be delighted by one of Scotland's finest storytellers for children, Andy Cannon, as he recounts Shakespeare's riveting tale in Is this a Dagger? The Story of Macbeth. They will also have the opportunity to take a transformative journey of the senses into Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with preeminent Quebecois dance company Cas Public in 9; enjoy an interactive theater piece by master storyteller Polarbear, with Mouth Open, Story Jump Out; and be a part of You and Me and the Space Between, a heroic tale of a little girl who saves an island, brought to life with inventive storytelling, choreographed projections, and live-drawn animation.

"Through intimate experiences with world-class theater, dance, and music, LC Kids strives to encourage young audiences to see the world as it is and as it could be," said Peg Schuler-Armstrong, Lincoln Center Education's Director of Programming and Production. "Families who join us this season can enjoy the performing arts together, at any age. And we're thrilled to bring another season of free Saturday concerts in the David Rubenstein Atrium with some of the best family music bands around."

The season kicks off Saturday, October 6 with music from New Orleans by Jazzy Ash and her band, The Leaping Lizards, at a free performance in the David Rubenstein Atrium.
