The Company Members of LAByrinth Theater Company, the award-winning, downtown ensemble, has announced its NEWYORKNEWYORK Festival, a week-long festival of free readings and discussions curated around different New York themes - iconic playwrights, vibrant cultures, urban ideals, and more - which will culminate in a marathon weekend of forty-eight straight hours of round-the-clock theater at the Bank Street Theatre (155 Bank Street).

The festival is an effort to pay tribute to the rich tradition of New York plays that have helped shape and continue to inspire Labyrinth as a Company. The goal is to give every New Yorker the chance to see their hometown from Labyrinth's perspective - as our canvas, as our characters, as our muse.

The schedule of readings (subject to change) is as follows:

Monday, March 18th at 8pm
The Indian Wants The Bronx
By Israel Horovitz

The reading will be followed by a discussion about the Off-Broadway
movement in the late 60's moderated by playwright Israel Horovitz.

Tuesday, March 19th at 8pm
In Arabia, We'd All Be Kings
By Stephen Adly Guirgis

The reading will be followed by a discussion about Labyrinth's deeply rooted
connection to NYC and will be moderated by Stephen Adly Guirgis.

Wednesday, March 20th at 8pm
Danny and the Deep Blue Sea
By John Patrick Shanley

The reading will be followed by a discussion moderated by
John Patrick Shanley about NY Theater in the 1980s.

Thursday, March 21st at 8pm
Dutchman
By Amiri Baraka

The reading will be followed by a discussion about NY Theater through
the African-American lens moderated by playwright Amiri Baraka.

Friday March 22nd at 7pm through Sunday, March 24th at 9pm
A Marathon of NY Plays
Curated by the Members of LAByrinth Theater Company

The marathon will feature work by Edward Albee, James Baldwin, Maria Irene Fornes,
John Guare, Lorraine Hansberry, Langston Hughes, David Henry Hwang, Jack Kerouac,
Sidney Kingsley, Kenneth Lonnergan, Arthur Miller, Eugene O'Neill, Clifford Odets,

Along with Labyrinth Company Members and Guest Artists, audience members
will be cast to play parts in each play throughout the marathon weekend.

Free tickets for the weeknight readings and discussions will be available via online lottery each day. Audience members will be able to submit their names between 10am - 3pm on our website.
