Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of André Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) will present its LCT3 production of 4000 MILES, a new play by Amy Herzog, directed by Daniel Aukin beginning Thursday, March 15 in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street). Opening night for 4000 MILES, which will feature its original LCT3 cast – Gabriel Ebert, Greta Lee, Mary Louise Wilson and Zoë Winters, is Monday, April 2 at 6:45pm.

After losing his best friend while they were on a cross-country bike trip, 21 year-old Leo (Gabriel Ebert) seeks solace with his feisty 91 year-old grandmother (Mary Louise Wilson) in her West Village apartment. 4000 Miles examines how these two outsiders find their way in today's world. The production will have sets by Lauren Helpern, costumes by Kate Voyce, lighting by Japhy Weideman and sound by Ryan Rumery.

4000 MILES premiered last summer as a production of LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater’s programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences. The final stages of construction are underway for a new theater, rehearsal space and office complex on the roof of the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The 131-seat theater, to be named the Claire Tow Theater, is scheduled to open in June and will become the permanent home of LCT3. Paige Evans is Artistic Director/LCT3.

Playwright Amy Herzog’s plays include Belleville and After The Revolution. Her work has been produced or developed at the Yale Rep, Ensemble Studio Theater, Arena Stage, New York Stage and Film, Provincetown Playhouse and ACT in San Francisco.

Director Daniel Aukin was artistic director of Soho Repertory Theatre where his productions included Everything Will Be Different, Suitcase (which he also directed at the La Jolla Playhouse), Molly’s Dream, and (sic) (for which he won an Obie Award). His more recent off-Broadway credits include This (Playwrights Horizons), Back, Back, Back (MTC) and productions at the New York Theatre Workshop and The Play Company as well as regionally at Guthrie Theater, and Minneapolis’ The Children’s Theatre Company.

This spring, in addition to 4000 MILES, LCT is presenting the open-ended runs of its Tony Award winning production of War Horse, co-produced with The National Theatre of Great Britain and Bob Boyett and directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, and Jon Robin Baitz’s new play, Other Desert Cities, directed by Joe Mantello, on Broadway at the Booth Theatre.

4000 MILES will be performed Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm, with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 3pm. (Please note there will be no performances on Saturday, March 17 at 2pm or Tuesday evening, April 3 at 8pm). Tickets, priced at $85 and $75, will be available beginning Sunday, February 12 at the Lincoln Center Theater box office, at telecharge.com or by visiting www.lct.org. A limited number of tickets priced at $30 are available at every performance through LincTix, LCT’s new program for 21 to 35 year olds. For information and to enroll, visit LincTix.org.
