LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater will continue its Special Event series next month with an encore engagement of WE'RE GONNA DIE, the Obie-Award winning work from Young Jean Lee's Theater Company, for ten performances only Monday, August 5 through Saturday, August 17 at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65thStreet). The run of performances will coincide with the release of the WE'RE GONNA DIE album on August 6.
In WE'RE GONNA DIE, provocative director/playwright Young Jean Lee takes the stage with her band Future Wife (Mike Hanf, Andrew Hoepfner, Benedict Kupstas and Booker Stardrum) in a life-affirming show about the one thing everyone has in common: WE'RE GONNA DIE. You may be miserable, but you won't be alone.
WE'RE GONNA DIE has choreography by Faye Driscoll, direction by Paul Lazar and costumes by Roxana Ramseur. Morgan Gould is Associate Director, Mike Farry is Dramaturg, Sunny Stapleton is the Production Supervisor and Aaron Rosenblum is the Producer for the Young Jean Lee's Theater Company.
Young Jean Lee, who is currently under commission to create a new piece for LCT3, is a two-time Obie Award-winning playwright and director who has been called "the most adventurous downtown playwright of her generation" by the New York Times. She has written and directed nine shows in New York with Young Jean Lee's Theater Company, and toured her work to over thirty cities around the world. Her plays have been published by Theatre Communications Group (SONGS OF THE DRAGONS FLYING TO HEAVEN AND OTHER PLAYS, THE SHIPMENT and LEAR) and by Samuel French (THREE PLAYS BY Young Jean Lee).
LCT3 Special Events were introduced with the opening of the Claire Tow Theater in the summer of 2012 with LCT3's first presentation of WE'RE GONNA DIE, followed by MR. JOY, the 90-minute one-man show written and performed by Daniel Beaty, and directed by Sheryl Kaller. LCT3 will continue to welcome emerging theater companies, workshop productions in various stages of development, and other special event programming to the Claire Tow Theater.
This season, LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences, will produce the world premieres of LUCE, a new play by JC Lee, directed by May Adrales (Saturday, October 5 through Sunday, November 17) and STOP HITTING YOURSELF, created by Rude Mechs, (Monday, January 13 through Sunday, February 23), followed by the New York premiere of THE WHO & THE WHAT, by Ayad Akhtar, directed by Kimberly Senior (Saturday, May 31 through Sunday, July 13) all at the Claire Tow Theater. Akhtar recently won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his play DISGRACED, which premiered at LCT3 last season.
Tickets to WE'RE GONNA DIE, priced at $20, will be available at the Lincoln Center Theater box office, at telecharge.com or by visiting www.lct3.org.
