Starting October 7th, 2008 Kristy Cates will be portraying a cancer survivor in a new Off-Broadway musical titled Unbeatable. Cates will be playing the lead role of Tracy Boyd, a woman diagnosed with breast cancer who tells (and sings) her survival story. Cates is only off of stage for three minutes the entire show.
A production of the show is currently rehearsing in Phoenix at the Phoenix Theatre and will coming to Houston at the Stages Rep Theatre in September 2008 before landing Off-Broadway at New World Stages.
Kristy Cates is best known for her roles in the original Broadway cast of
Wicked (ensemble/Elphaba understudy). Kristy then went on to a year long run as Elphaba in the Chicago production of
Wicked. She was most recently seen at Carnegie Hall in the ensemble of "Jerry Springer the Opera" starring
Harvey Keitel. Off Broadway/ Regional: Human Race Theatre (
