Today, Red Bull Theater announced the cast for their Staged Concert Reading of Happy End, the musical by Bertolt Brecht & Kurt Weill, translated by Michael Feingold: Nancy Anderson, J. Bernard Calloway, Carson Elrod, Steven Eng, Tom Hewitt, Matthew Maher, Karen Mason, Martin Moran, Alexandra Silber, Price Waldman, Kristine Zbornik, Chip Zien, and more to be announced. Happy End will be directed by Leigh Silverman with music direction by James Cunningham and will take place Monday March 17th at 7:30pm at the Lucille Lortel Theater, 121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets.

Threepenny Opera meets Guys & Dolls as a Salvation Army gal falls for a Chicago gangster - and unforgettable songs ensue! Brecht and Weill's astounding follow-up to Threepenny Opera doesn't believe in the separation of church and organized crime. As Army preacher Lillian Holiday struggles for the soul (and heart) of head gangster Bill Cracker, trouble is brewing amongst the gang. A big bank job is underway, but a hostile takeover from within threatens to ruin all their plans. With such great songs as "Surabaya-Johnny," "The Sailor's Tango," and "The Bilbao Song," this masterpiece combines social satire with music hall moxie and delights all the way to its very happy end.
