Charles Messina, director/playwright of the highly acclaimed A Room of My Own and The Wanderer, the new upcoming Broadway musical celebrating the iconic Dion DiMucci, will also direct this two character dark comedy.
Moolah centers around two gangster cousins-- Antny , a compulsive gambler and homophobe, and Sonny , a gay hairdresser whose "full service" includes "cut by day, clip by night" -- as they spend the evening in a Staten Island salon waiting for their semi retired mobster uncle to come and "settle a score".
Moolah offers a hilariously dark comedy with these two fractured, Soprano-esque characters. Together, they impart their frustrations and lethal energies upon one another in a rapid fire, punch line brawl that the Philadelphia Inquirer described as a "rich night of dark comical frolic" with a "rat-a-tat delivery, rich in banality and comedy!"
Moolah stars Johnny Tammaro as Antny and Louis Gerard Politan as Sonny in this blistering, New York style quintessential romp where the humor is unapologetic and a wildly unexpected revelation leads to a magic carpet ride of lunacy, wit and deadly musical chairs.
