John Howard Swain has joined the company of John Anastasi's new play Pied-A-Terre which begins previews on November 26 at the Kirk Theatre (410 West 42nd Street) on Theatre Row. He replaces William Atherton, previously announced.
John Howard Swain is returning to the New York boards after 20 years in California. He has starred in the off-Broadway productions of Joe Stein's Lucky Rita (directed by Aaron Frankel), The Winslow Boy, Free Ride, The Strike and Shades, among others. His TV credits have included Highway to Heaven, The Hogans, Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, Knot's Landing, St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues. Film work includes Night Partners, Deadly Care, Angels in the Outfield and Best Seller. John is also a director and has staged plays in theatres all across the country as well as directing three films: Whose Life, Uncommon and Stand-By (an entry in the Sundance Film Festival).
Swain joins the cast including Jessica McKee and Robin Riker.
"Pied-A-Terre is the story of a TV journalist who discovers a penthouse owned by her husband, which she was unaware existed. As she explores the apartment, she is interrupted by a young woman who seems to know her husband a little too well. As the women face off and secrets unfold, the two women learn that they have more in common than either thought possible," explain press notes.
