Off-Broadway's award-winning Irish Repertory Theatre welcomes two-time Tony Award-winner John Cullum for their annual holiday offering, this year a revival of Dylan Thomas's classic A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES. Adapted and directed by Charlotte Moore, A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES begins previews tonight, November 24th, 2015. The Opening Night is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1st. The engagement will end on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016.
Due to a theatre renovation taking place at its home base, The Irish Rep's current productions are being presented at the DR2 Theatre (103 East 15th Street in Union Square). A return to its renovated theater on West 22nd Street in Chelsea is planned for Spring 2016.
The iconic A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES features both traditional and contemporary holiday music. A snowy Christmas Day in Wales is seen through the eyes of a child . . . ghost stories are whispered, cakes are gobbled up, and wild Indians roam the city park . . . while uncles, stuffed with pudding, snort and groan on the couch on a lazy holiday afternoon.
A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES has musical direction by Mark Hartman. A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES has costume design by David Toser, and lighting design by Michael Gottlieb. The Production Stage Manager is Pamela Brusoski and the ASM is April Kline.
A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES will be performed from Tuesday, November 24, 2015 through Sunday, January 3, 2016. The press opening is Tuesday, December 1st. Performances are Tuesdays at 7pm; Wednesdays at 3pm and 8pm; Thursdays at 7pm; Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm; and Sundays at 3pm. HOLIDAY SCHEDULES: No performances on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. There are added performances on November 27th at 3pm; December 21st at 7pm, December 28th at 7pm, and December 31st at 3pm. The RUNNING TIME for A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES is 75 minutes with no intermission.
