Soho Playhouse presents the award-winning and internationally acclaimed JEWISH CHRONICLES, written and performed by Daniel Cainer. Based on true-life stories, it is a musical and lyrical journey like no other, weaving an irresistible tapestry of family legend and musical folklore. JEWISH CHRONICLES will run at Soho Playhouse from tonight, October 8 thru November 16, 2014. Performances are Wednesdays at 3pm, Saturdays at 3pm, Sundays at 5pm and Mondays at 7:30pm. Tickets are $45.00 and can be purchased at 212-691-1555 or www.SoHoPlayhouse.com.

Described as a 'virtuoso player' and an 'unsurpassed storyteller,' Daniel Cainer's JEWISH CHRONICLES features tales of feuding tailors, a Jewess who joins a 1950s Christian cult, a cocaine addicted rabbi, some saucy shenanigans in a suburban Laundromat and many more. JEWISH CHRONICLES is a collection of unique stories-in-song performed by a master songwriter.

Having lived a completely secular life, it was only when Daniel experienced what he calls his 'Mid-life Kosher Crisis' that he started asking who he was, what he was and why he was? The answer to all these questions turned out to be one word: Jewish. A mystical vision of an old Rabbi wagging his finger and telling him to 'write a Jewish musical' sealed the deal and JEWISH CHRONICLES was born.

But you don't have to be Jewish to resonate with the twists, turns and remarkable detail in this material. Daniel's unique gift is to condense complex aspects of the human condition into captivating and very funny song. Praise has come from Tony award winning playwright Alan Bennett, Booker Prize winning novelist Howard Jacobson and even the legendary Theodore Bikel. Daniel is a writer's and a songwriter's songwriter as well as an extraordinarily engaging performer.
