The Irish Repertory Theatre presents Meet Me At The Square, a special benefit concert that celebrates the institution's magical musical highlights from the past 26 seasons. The concert will be held tonight, September 4th at 7:30 pm at The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street). Meet Me At The Square will be the final performance in the space before the theatre begins its renovation. Meet Me at the Square will feature performances by Kerry Conte, Patrick Cummings, Danielle Ferland, Beth Fowler, Bonnie Fraser, Jessica Grove, Rita Harvey, Kristin Huxhold, Mary Illes, Elizabeth Inghram, Donna Kane, Chad Kimball, Kerry O'Malley, Jenny Powers, Ciaran Sheehan, David Staller, and Max Von Essen. Meet Me at the Square will feature performances from past Irish Rep musical productions such as The Irish . . . And How They Got That Way, Donnybrook, Finian's Rainbow, Meet Me In St. Louis, After The Ball, Take Me Along, Ernest in Love, and The Streets of New York.
Arranged by Irish Repertory Theatre's Artistic Director Charlotte Moore, Meet Me at the Square has music direction by John Bell and Mark Hartman. Featured in the band are: Mioi Takeda (violin), Melanie Mason (cello), Jeremy Clayton (woodwinds) and Joy Plaisted (harp).
Meet Me at the Square will be following by a reception with the cast and crew, and staff of the Irish Rep.
"On this night, just days before the arrival of the wrecking ball, we will raise a glass and sing the songs that have rocked these walls," says Ms. Moore.
Starting on Wednesday, September 24th, The Irish Repertory Theatre will be in residence at the DR2 Theatre in Union Square while their home on 22nd undergoes renovation. The first production of the 2014-15 theatre season is Conor McPherson's Port Authority, directed by Ciarán O'Reilly, and featuring Billy Carter, Peter Maloney, and James Russell. Performances of Port Authority are scheduled through Sunday, November 16th, 2014.
