IS LIFE WORTH LIVING?, an exaggeration by Lennox Robinson, comes to The Mint. Performances will begin August 19th, and continue though October 11th, with Opening Night set for September 14th.

"Legit repertory troupe comes to a small village in Ireland and, after a week or so of Ibsen, Chekhov and Strindberg, the town is off its nut."

That, in a nutshell, is the story of IS LIFE WORTH LIVING?-- a gloriously goofy comedy that imagines the impact a steady diet of serious drama might have on the amiable residents of the seaside town of Inish.

"I suppose you would call it farce," Robinson told The New York Times in 1933, "But I'd rather not call it that because well - you know what people think you mean when you call a play farce."

Is Life Worth Living? played on Broadway three times in the 1930's but has not been seen in New York since. Brooks Atkinson writes, "You are permitted to respect the theme of Mr. Robinson's play and to like every character who is in it. If that is not pure comedy, what is?"

Is Life Worth Living? will star real-life couple JorDan Baker and Kevin Kilner as Hector de la Mare and his wife Constance Constantia of the De La Mare Repertory Company, the traveling players who bring their high-toned repertory to Inish.

Baker (Three Tall Women) and Kilner (Dinner with Friends) will be joined by Leah Curney, Margaret Daly, Bairbre Dowling, John Keating, Jeremy Lawrence, Erin Moon, Grant Neale, Paul O'Brien, John O'Creagh and Graham Outerbridge.

Performances for Is Life Worth Living? will be Tuesday through Thursday at 7 PM, Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 PM & 8 PM, and Sunday at 2 PM. Tickets are $35 (Aug. 19th - 30th only), $45 (Sept. 1st - 20th only) and $55 (Sept. 22 -Oct. 11th).

The Mint Theater is at 311 W 43rd Street, Third Floor, Btwn 8th and 9th Aves in New York NY 10036. To purchase tickets, or for more information, call 212-315-0231 or visit www.minttheater.org.
