Hourglass Group (Trouble in Paradise, Beebo Brinker) and 45 Bleecker present BabyLove, written and performed by Christen Clifford, directed by Julie Kramer. Performances will take place April 23 – June 8.  Official opening set for May 4th.

Winner of the San Francisco Best of Fringe Award and the FRIGID New York Audience Award, BabyLove makes its Off-Broadway debut this spring. Writer-performer Clifford is fearless and often shockingly honest in dealing with her feelings about conception, pregnancy, delivery, breastfeeding, and her ever-changing relationship with her husband in this hilarious and heartfelt solo about motherhood and sexuality. Clifford's true stories expose deep secrets with refreshing candor and humor; by exploring the intimate, she illuminates the universal. Directed by Julie Kramer (None of The Above, Motherload), with choreography by burlesque star Julie Atlas Muz.

Babylove is based on Clifford's controversial essay for Nerve.com. Clifford last appeared Off-Broadway in the title role in The Woman Before, and has appeared at Classic Stage Company, The Culture Project, and The Public Theatre. She has been a mainstage storyteller at The Moth. Her writing has been published in Salon.com, Nerve.com, The New York Press, and Everything You Know About Sex Is Wrong (Disinfo). Clifford is a member of The Association for Research on Mothering as well as The Society for Scientific Study of Sexuality and is the winner of the 2006 New School MFA nonfiction writing prize and a 2007 NYFA Fellowship.

Hourglass Group develops adventurous new plays and reinvestigate neglected vintage American comedies.  Past productions include the GLAAD Media-nominated Beebo Brinker Chronicles, which has transferred Off-Broadway to 37 Arts produced by Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner; Trouble in Paradise (2007 OBIE) and acclaimed production of Mae West's SEX. BabyLove was developed in the Hourglass Solo Lab, a program that supports new work by a community of women writer-performers.

BabyLove will play two matinees a week April 23– June 8 as follows: Wednesday @ 1 PM, Sunday @ 3PM at The Green Room @ 45 Bleecker.  45 Bleecker is between Lafayette and Bowery (B/D/F to Broadway-Lafayette; 6 to Bleecker St.) Tickets are $20.
