The Amas Musical Theatre Lab presents its first new musical of its 49th Season, I'LL TAKE IT, with book and lyrics by Eli Pasic and music by Henry Krieger.
"I'll take it!" exclaims Helen McGill, a spunky, middle-aged farm woman who lives with her brother and longs for adventure. When the opportunity presents itself in the person of traveling book seller Roger Mifflin, she buys his business right there on the spot. And there begins their adventure/romance and the journey of a lifetime. "I'll Take It!" is inspired by and adapted from Christopher Morley's 1917 novella "Parnassus on Wheels."
Featuring Jill Abramovitz, Tiffany Chalothorn, Marc delaCruz, Javier Ignacio, Kevin B. McGlynn, Kelsey Ryan Moore, David Rogue, Nickolas Vaughn and Dana Watkins.
Director is Devanand Janki. Stage manager is Katie Sammons. Music director is Greg Jarrett.
The musical will be presented on Monday, July 31 at 6:00 and Tuesday, August 1 at 3:00 & 7:00 at Ripley-Grier Studios, 939 Eighth Avenue, 2nd Floor. For tickets, email boxoffice@amasmusical.org, call 212-563-2565 or visit www.amasmusical.org.
Amas Musical Theatre has been a pioneer in multiculturalism in the performing arts since it was founded in 1968 by visionary actress and producer Rosetta LeNoire. Amas ("you love" in Latin) is devoted to the creation, development and professional production of original musicals that celebrate diversity and inclusion, the emergence of new artistic talent, and the nurturing and training of young people.
These presentations are part of the ongoing Amas Musical Theatre Lab, a development series for writers, lyricists and composers to mount public readings of their new musicals. The Lab is supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and by the Actors' Equity Association Foundation, BMI Foundation, the Barbara Bell Cumming Foundation, the Lucille Lortel Foundation, the Frederick Loewe Foundation, the Friars Club, the Shubert Foundation, and through the generous support of many individuals.
