New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) will honor internationally acclaimed theatre designer and six-time Tony Award Winner Bob Crowley at the NYTW 2015 Spring Gala tonight, May 11, 2015. The event, which will be held at the Edison Ballroom (240 W 47th St.) will be chaired by Disney Theatrical Production President Thomas Schumacher, Sherie Rene Scott, Jack O'Brien, and John Barrett.
The evening features performances by Ashley Brown, Sherie Rene Scott and a dance number from Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope, stars of An American In Paris. There will also be special tributes from Dame Helen Mirren Jack O'Brien, John Lithgow, Zachary Quinto, Cherry Jones, Zoe Wanamaker, Stockard Channing and Celia Keenan-Bolger.
Bob Crowley is currently represented on Broadway with Disney's Aladdin, An American in Paris, The Audience and Skylight. He is the recipient of four 2015 Tony Award Nominations for his work on Skylight, The Audience, and An American in Paris; in addition to being a six-time Tony Award Winner for designing the Broadway productions of Carousel, Aida, The History Boys, Mary Poppins, The Coast of Utopia, and Once. He has designed many productions for The National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, including The Plantagenets, for which he won an Olivier Award.
The NYTW Annual Spring Gala raises nearly 10% of the Off-Broadway company's annual budget. Funds raised at this one-night only event help NYTW to mount four world class productions each season and to share them with more than 40,000 audience members. Proceeds also support NYTW's Artist Workshop activities through which nearly 2,000 artists develop more than 80 projects each year and their Education Initiatives including Learning Workshop, Mind the Gap, and Public Programs that serve over 1,600 students of all ages.

The fourth and final production of the 2014/2015 season at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003) is the New York premiere of FOREVER, created and performed by Pulitzer Prize finalist Dael Orlandersmith and directed by Neel Keller. FOREVER begins previews on Wednesday, April 22nd and officially opens on Monday, May 4, 2015 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003). FOREVER runs through Sunday, May 31, 2015.
NYTW recently announced the world premiere of LAZARUS, by David Bowie and Enda Walsh (ONCE, Tony Award) inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth, directed by Ivo van Hove (Hedda Gabler, More Stately Mansions, Obie Awards), as well as the world premiere of a new play from its acclaimed Company-in-Residence Elevator Repair Service (The Sound and the Fury, The Select, Gatz), written by NYTW Usual Suspect Sibyl Kempson and directed by ERS Artistic Director John Collins, both to premiere during the 2015/2016 season.
