Hang A Tale's Kim Martin-Cotten will direct The Little Prince at The Pearl Theatre running now through March 22nd.

The cast is lead by Tarah Flanagan as The Prince and Christopher Gerson as the Aviator, while a mercurial ensemble (Kimiye Corwin, Michael Arden Larson, Jacques Roy, Jude Sandy and Paola Styron) shape-shifts its way through the host of beautiful, hilarious, and bizarre characters that surround them. With live musical performance by Alexander Sovronsky, puppets and masks created by Matt Cotten of Puppets Among Us, and space travel courtesy of Christopher Gersons's video design, Hang A Tale creates a theatrical landscape to match the magic, poignancy and humor of this beloved classic. For the open-hearted, aged six to a hundred and six.

A pilot is stranded alone with no hope of survival after a crash in the Sahara Desert. His life is forever altered when a small, mysterious person suddenly appears from another planet. A timeless tale, appropriate for all ages, Antoine St. Exupery's The Little Prince explores the meaning of love, the nature of truth, and ultimately the essence of our existence. It reminds us sometimes forgetful grown-ups that "it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye," The Little Prince speaks to the child in us all; challenging our perspective, opening our eyes, and asking us to return to embracing what really matters.

"The Little Prince was first published in France in 1943 during the darkest days of the Second World War, the slim volume with its spare, witty line drawings and philosophical tone acknowledges suffering yet transcends it: life may end but beauty and friendship endure. In the seven decades since its publication, child and adult readers have sworn by the book and even lived by it." (Lin Haire-Sargeant)

On the creative team are: Puppet Designer: Matt Cotten of Puppets Among Us; Lighting Designer: Bradley King; Costume Designer: Meg Weedon; Video Designer: Christopher Gerson; Scenic Designer: Jacques Roy; Stage Manager April Kline; and Assistant Stage Manager Jessica Sovronsky.

Hang A Tale is an emerging company devoted to reinvigorating classics and modern classics. Actors that have workshopped with them along the way include Peter Gerety, Michael Emerson, Johanna Day, Andre Holland, Frank Wood, Reiko Aylsworth, and Nathan Darrow to name a few. "We seek tales of timelessness that transcend the limitations of period and style. We dedicate our energies to reimaging these works for the contemporary stage." The Little Prince is their first offering for young audiences.
