The Barrow Group, in association with The Pond Theatre Company, will present the first show of the 2016/17 season, ABIGAIL'S PARTY, written by Oscar nominee Mike Leigh (Secrets and Lies).

Directed by The Barrow Group Co-Artistic Director Lee Brock, ABIGAIL'S PARTY begins performances Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the TBG Theatre at The Barrow Group (312 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor) and officially opens Monday, November 14, 2016 for a limited run through Saturday, December 3, 2016. Tickets are on sale now at www.barrowgroup.org.

A 1977 brilliantly observed comedy, ABIGAIL'S PARTY captures epic denial in London suburbia and still hits a nerve about the way we live. The full cast will feature Lily Dorment* (The Unrepeatable Moment), Colleen Clinton* (Blue Bloods), Sarah Street (Law & Order), Nick Hetherington* (Outside Mullingar) and John Pirkis* (Daredevil).

ABIGAIL'S PARTY will feature set design by Edward T. Morris (Pirate La Dee Da), lighting design by Marika Kent (The Unrepeatable Moment), and sound design by Matt Otto (The Pavilion). Allison Raynes* will serve as Production Stage Manager.

Single tickets for ABIGAIL'S PARTY are priced at $25 and available at www.barrowgroup.org or by calling OvationTix at 866-811-4111. Memberships for The Barrow Group 2016/17 Season are also on sale now, beginning at $65. In addition to season memberships, The Barrow Group launched a Young Professionals Membership Group this year. The Barrow Group offers theatre patrons and performing arts students an artistic experience focused on simplicity, clarity, and spontaneity. In our 15,000 sf arts center in midtown Manhattan, audiences enjoy deeply engaging productions of excellent plays, and students learn easy-to-understand techniques that help them tell stories more clearly and freely. Our work is like the great independent films from the 1970s (directed by the likes of Jon Cassavetes, Robert Altman, and Sydney Lumet) - where the stories are simple, intimate, powerful, and character driven - because we believe audiences are hungry for this kind of storytelling. We've won a Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award. CBS News has named us one of the top places to study performing arts in New York City. Our past company members and alumni have won an Academy, Emmy, Tony, OBIE, and Lucille Lortel Award. We have received support from the JKW Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, The Dramatists Guild, the Jewish Communal Fund, the New York State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment of the Arts, and the American Theatre Wing. We are a thriving non-profit, in a healthy financial position with a strong Board of Trustees, making a meaningful contribution to New York City's cultural landscape.

The Pond Theatre Company presents US premieres of plays by emerging British and Irish playwrights and provides a context for those works through the revival of modern classics. Founded by an international group of actors from the UK, Ireland and the United States, The Pond is dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging playwrights whose work may have been produced in the UK or Ireland but who have had few, if any, opportunities to present their work to US audiences. The Pond's inaugural 2016/17 season includes a revival of Abigail's Party by Mike Leigh (produced by The Barrow Group) and the US premiere of Muswell Hill by Torben Betts, coming in Spring 2017.
