George Dvorsky, who most recently starred in the critically acclaimed revival of CLOSER THAN EVER at the York Theater has joined the cast of The Fantasticks in the role of the narrator El Gallo, as of yesterday, January 21. He replaces actor Richard Roland.

El Gallo, originally played by Jerry Orbach, is the dashing, yet villainous bandit, hired to disrupt the relationship between the young lovers Matt (currently played by pop sensation Aaron Carter) and Luisa (Addi McDaniel).

Dvorsky's Broadway credits include the title role in THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, the Tony Award Winning PASSION, MARILYN: AN AMERICAN FABLE and THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS. He also starred as Prince Charming in the NYC Premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein's CINDERELLA at Lincoln Center where he also played Tommy in BRIGADOON. Off-Broadway: PETE N KEELY, the revival of DAMES AT SEA and 'AND THE WORLD GOES ROUND. George has performed with symphonies all over the world, including Iceland, Hong Kong, Sweden, and Italy.

THE FANTASTICKS is produced by Terzetto, LLC/Catherine Russell and by Pat Flicker Addis and Al Parinello.

A modern twist on Romeo and Juliet, The Fantasticks is the quintessential story of a young couple who go out into the world and discover that with love comes responsibility, with independence comes danger, and with experience comes joy. The score, which includes the hit songs "Try To Remember", "They Were You" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain", is as timeless as the story itself.

When The Fantasticks (music by Harvey Schmidt; book/lyrics/direction by Tom Jones) opened in 1960 at a tiny theater on New York City's Sullivan Street, no one ever dreamed it would run for 17,162 performances and become the world's longest-running musical. Since then there have been over 11,000 productions in more than 3,000 U.S. cities and towns and in 67 countries, from Afghanistan to Iran to Zimbabwe, making The Fantasticks the world's most frequently-produced musical.

THE FANTASTICKS cast also includes pop sensation Aaron Carter, legendary television, film and stage performer John Davidson, who played Aaron's role in the 1964 HallMark Hall of Fame television version of The Fantasticks, MacIntyre Dixon (Broadway's Gypsy, Sly Fox, 1776, Beauty and the Beast, The Tempest), Addi McDaniel (Arena Stage, The Guthrie and South Coast Rep) Michael Nostrand (A&E's Emmy Award-?winning Peter Pan, national tours of Jelly's Last Jam, The Mystery of Edwin Drood) and played Matt in The Fantasticks), Daniel Rowan (Lyric Stage and Casa Manana), Natasha Ashworth and Dan Sharkey (Broadway's The Music Man, Show Boat).
