Take the songs of young composer Scott Evan Davis and expose them to a bunch of Broadway babies from Houston making an eight-day trip to Manhattan and you've got the perfect ingredients for a revue that will hit the Davenport Theatre Mainstage on Monday, June 15 at 7 pm. (The Davenport Theatre is on 354 West 45th Street.)

Called Perspectives, the revue was conceived by Houston-based Jeannine Rowden (photo below) and her Rowden Music Studio, and will star 12 up-and-coming performers between ages eight and 18, most of whom are from the Houston area and all of whom are Rowdon's musical theater and vocal students. Rowden is also the show's director and penned new arrangements and orchestrations of Davis' songs (original arrangements and orchestrations were adapted by David Snyder), including "Cautiously Optimistic" and "Walk a Little Slower" (both of which were featured on Davis' Cautiously Optimistic CD released in 2011).

"Perspectives uses the music of Scott Evan Davis (photo below left) to allow children to explore the complex difficulties of modern life through the safety of imagination and childhood," says Rowden. "As the children go from playground adventures to discovering and understanding the issues facing their lives, they ultimately come to accept the problems facing them and find the courage within themselves to take their next steps in the adventure of life." Adds Davis: "I'm hearing wonderful things about the show and I can't wait to work with the kids in a Sunday rehearsal and then see it on Monday night."

Davis is one of a number of singers, actors and performers who have been working with the future stars in workshops since they arrived on Monday the 8th (they leave on Tuesday after the show). Among the "teachers" working with Rowden's students include Broadway star Liz Callaway and Cabaret star Julie Reyburn, both of whom performed Davis songs on the Cautiously Optimistic CD. Also providing the kids with their knowledge of show biz and performing are Eamon Foley, Howard McGillin, Aaron Lazar, Larry Lozier, Jr., Craig Schulman, and Ryan VanDenBoom.

The young cast of Perspectives includes: Alaina Brownfield, Arwen Costello, Annie DeBattista, Emily Goldstein, Regan Hicks, Rebecca Marano, Garrett Morris, Mia Munn, Savannah Schakett, Olly Sholotan, and Christopher Wolff.

Admission to the Monday night show is Pay-What-You-Can. For more information, call 210-289-9431 or email kt.katherinetrevino@gmail.com
