FRIGID NEW YORK Presents No.11 Productions' Medea, written by Euripides and translated by Paul Roche.Medea will be performed at the Kraine Theater on 2/24 @ 6pm, 2/27 @ 7pm, 3/01 @ 7:30pm, 3/4 @ 9pm and 3/6 @1pm.

What do you do when your hopes are turned to lies?

Medea, suddenly abandoned by her husband Jason, plots her bloody revenge. Witness a beautiful and heartbreaking staging of Euripides' 2400-year-old play about love, passion, violence and broken expectations.

Translator Paul Roche's superb mix of poetry and modern phrasing create a vocal tenacity and musicality that parallel the ancient Greek language. Director Ryan Emmons' psychological, interdisciplinary staging physically activates the text for a modern audience, while Rebecca Greenstein's folk-infused, emotionally charged, acoustic compositions challenge the conventional use of music. Ava Conoval's earthy, symbolic choreography manifests the characters' inner turmoil and Jen Neads' Bunraku inspired puppets illustrate the theatrical nature of Medea's world.
