First Reading Of New Drama THE UNBLEACHED AMERICAN Debuts 6/15

Theatre Resources Unlimited and Lisa Dozier in association with Elaine Smith will present the first New York public reading of the new drama The Unbleached American by Michael Aman, directed by Michael Bush (Stormy Weather, Based on a Totally True Story) on June 15th at 7pm.

Based on the last months of an all but forgotten star of the American stage, The Unbleached American is a two character comic drama set in a townhouse in New York City in 1908. Ernest Hogan, an African American comedian/songwriter, hires Sharon Flynn to nurse him back to health. They find a sparring partner in each other which leads to a duel of wits - sometimes comic, sometimes hurtful - as each of them battles with the guilt of their pasts. Through their mutual love of performance and music and eventually each other, Ernest and Sharon begin to learn how to forgive themselves. Black and white, rich and poor, healthy and sick - two people who couldn't be less alike find their own reflection in each other.

Michael Bush directs a cast comprised of Nancy Anderson and Jerry Dixon.
