There are only seven more chances to see celebrated television icon Eve Plumb in the hit Off-Broadway comedy MISS ABIGAIL'S GUIDE TO DATING, MATING, AND MARRIAGE!
Ms. Plumb, who made her New York stage debut as Miss Abigail last October, plays her final seven performances this Memorial Day weekend at the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre at Sofia's (221 West 46th Street, next to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in Times Square).
Best known for her iconic portrayal of Jan Brady in the classic American television series "The Brady Bunch," Ms. Plumb has garnered both critical and popular acclaim in the new stage comedy that Entertainment Weekly calls "...pure fun and, in less than 90 minutes, the perfect romp for an evening out with friends."
"
Eve Plumb's contribution and commitment to MISS ABIGAIL'S GUIDE have made an indelible impact on the continued success of our show," said director and co-author
Ken Davenport. "From the very beginning, her dedication and work ethic have been truly outstanding, and looking back on these past 250 performances, we really couldn't have asked for more."
Eve Plumb concludes her run at the 7 p.m. performance on Sunday, May 29.
As previously announced, another classic TV veteran, "Three's Company" star
Joyce Dewitt, is set to assume the role of Miss Abigail beginning Wednesday, June 1.
Written by
Ken Davenport (Altar Boyz, My First Time) and
Sarah Saltzberg (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), MISS ABIGAIL'S GUIDE TO DATING, MATING, AND MARRIAGE! is based on
Abigail Grotke's popular book - the comedy's namesake - that promises "classic advice for contemporary dilemmas."
Miss Abigail is the most sought-after relationship expert to the stars - think
Dr. Ruth meets Emily Post - and in MISS ABIGAIL'S GUIDE TO DATING, MATING, AND MARRIAGE!, she and her sexy sidekick Paco (played by
Mauricio Perez) travel the globe teaching her outrageously funny "how-tos" on dating, mating and marriage.
Davenport directs as Miss Abigail takes you back to a simpler time, before booty calls and speed-dating, back when the divorce rate wasn't 50 percent and Fidelity was more than an investment firm.
During this 90-minute comedy, audiences are guaranteed to laugh-out-loud and learn a thing or two . . . like how to have a perfect kiss (it's all about lip position) . . . what you should and should not talk about on a date (don't mention your troll doll collection) . . . and how to let a man think he wears the pants.
MISS ABIGAIL'S GUIDE TO DATING, MATING, AND MARRIAGE! features scenic design by
Hilary Noxon, costume design by
Abbi Stern and lighting design by
Graham Kindred. The production began preview performances on Thursday, October 7, 2010 and officially opened on Sunday, October 24.
