Actor Erik King, best known for his portrayal of Sergeant James Doakes on Showtime's "Dexter," is set to join the cast of Tarell Alvin McCraney's new play WIG OUT! beginning previews September 10 prior to its official press opening September 30 at The Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street).
Set nearly twenty years after Madonna's "Vogue" topped music charts and "Paris Is Burning" filled movie theaters, WIG OUT! is a fierce and intoxicating new play which tells of two competing drag houses, and the loves, loyalties, and dreams within each that draw their members together and apart. Erik King -- whose credits also include the blockbuster films National Treasure, Disney's Ice Princess and Desperate Measures, HBO's hit series Oz as Moses Deyell, and The District as Travis Hayward -- will co-star in WIG OUT! as Lucian, the founding father of the House of Light. Joining him in the cast of WIG OUT! are, as previously announced: Jas Anderson, Daniel T. Booth (a.k.a. Sweetie), Joshua Cruz, Sean Patrick Doyle, McKenzie Frye, Nathan Lee Graham, Angela Grovey, Andre Holland, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Clifton Oliver.
