Love, Humiliation & Karaoke, Enzo Lombard's solo show that transforms the ups and downs of his life into an entertaining evening of live theatre, will get its New York premiere in the 2009 Midtown InterNational Theatre Festival, under the direction of West coast comedy star W. Kamau Bell (named 2008 Comedian of the Year by San Francisco Weekly).
Lombard has been dubbed as the "Sedaris of San Francisco" by fans, and Love, Humiliation & Karaoke comes to New York direct from a sold-out extended run San Francisco, where it was named a "Don't Miss" by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Without a single costume change, Lombard embodies ten different characters in seven fast-paced vignettes, each set in a different city. From playing himself, to his mother, to a Filipino transvestite karaoke competitor, he takes the audience on an emotional, unpredictable, and often humorous journey that provides a sincere, neurotic, and believable look at the things we do to sabotage the love we yearn for.
Love, Humiliation & Karaoke runs from July 30th to August 1st at the Jewel Box Theatre in the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex at 312 West 36th Street (between 8th and 9th). The performance schedule is: Thursday, July 30th at 6pm, Friday, July 31st at 8:45pm, and Saturday, August 1st at 2:30pm.
Tickets are $18 and can be purchased online at
www.midtownfestival.org or by phone at 866-811-4111.
