Signature Theatre has announced casting is confirmed and tickets are now on sale for the U.S. Premiere of AND I AND SILENCE by Naomi Wallace, directed by Caitlin McLeod. All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. The production runs August 5 through September 14, 2014 with an August 25 opening night in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).
The cast includes Trae Harris (Newlyweeds, "Orange Is the New Black") as Young Jamie, Rachel Nicks ("Nurse Jackie," Life Support) as Jamie, Emily Skeggs (Fun Home, Transport) as Young Dee, and Samantha Soule (A Fable, Detroit '67) as Dee.
Two imprisoned teenagers, one black, one white, form a perilous bond. As the young women serve time, they forge a plan for survival. When the outside world proves even more dangerous than the jail itself, their private world becomes an untenable practice ground for their new lives. And I and Silence explores the fierce dreams of youth and the brutal reality of adulthood in 1950's America.
The design team includes Rachel Hauck (Scenic Design), Clint Ramos (Costume Design), Bradley King (Lighting Design), Elisheba Ittoop (Sound Design), Charlotte Fleck (Dialect Coach), and David Anzuelo (Fight Direction). Supplemental programming has been set for AND I AND SILENCE. There will be post-show talkbacks on August 12 & 28, September 2 & 9. There will be a pre-show Page to Stage discussion with playwright Naomi Wallace and director Caitlin McLeod on August 20. There will also be pre-show Backstage Pass discussion with a member of the creative team on September 10. All events are free.
