Edward Watts (Scandalous on Broadway; Superman in It's a Bird..Plane..It's Superman at Encores!), has signed on to join the cast of The Fantasticks, for two weeks only, right before its 56th anniversary on May 3, producers Al Parinello and Catherine Russell have announced. Mr. Watts will begin performances on Monday, April 28th and continue on in the role until Monday, May 12.

Edward Watts' starred in the Broadway production Scandalous. Off-Broadway, he took on the role of Superman in It's a Bird..Plane..It's Superman at Encores!, His other stage credits include The Most Happy Fella at the NYC Opera and Transport at The Irish Rep. Tours: The Little Mermaid (King Triton), Les Miserables (Enjolras,) 7 Brides for 7 Brothers (Adam Pontipee,) Beauty and the Beast (Gaston.) Regional Theatre: Roman Holiday at The Guthrie, Funny Thing...Forum (Helen Hayes nomination Best Supporting Actor) at The Shakespeare Theatre D.C., Saving Aimee and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers at The 5th Avenue; 1776 at Goodspeed Opera, Annie Get Your Gun at Sacramento Music Circus, A Little Night Music at Michigan Opera Theatre, The Music Man and Camelot at Music Theatre of Wichita, etc., etc. TV: recurring roles on "The Sopranos", "All My Children", "Rescue Me", "The Carrie Diaries", and "As the World Turns".

A modern twist on Romeo and Juliet, The Fantasticks (music by Harvey Schmidt, book, lyrics, and direction by Tom Jones) is the quintessential story of a boy and girl who fall in love and then quickly grow apart when they realize they want to experience the world. What follows is a hilarious and heartwarming story appropriate for all ages. The score, which includes the hit songs "Try To Remember", "Soon It's Gonna Rain" and "They Were You", is as timeless as the story itself.

The cast of The Fantasticks features Jeremiah James as the Narrator (El Gallo), Jim Schubin as The Boy (Matt), Samantha Bruce as The Girl (Luisa), George Lee Andrews as The Boy's Father (Hucklebee), Donald Corren as The Girl's Father (Bellomy), MacIntyre Dixon as The Old Actor (Henry), Michael Nostrand as The Man Who Dies (Mortimer) and Pierce Cravens as The Mute. The production also features Scott Willis, Rita Markova, and Tom Flagg.

Robert Felstein is the Musical Director / Pianist and Maria Banks is the Harpist. Production Stage Manager is Paul Blankenship and the Assistant Stage Manager is Earlye Rhodes.

Performances of The Fantasticks are on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at 8PM, Wednesdays at 2PM, Saturdays at 2PM & 8PM and Sundays at 3PM & 7:30PM.
