Vanessa's life is science. Fact based, evidence led, no nonsense, no monsters. But when a photograph surfaces showing something in Loch Ness, she must embark on a very personal research project. An extinct fish, a missing father, and breath-taking live electronic sound, FOSSILS explores the space between science and magic, myth and reality.

The cast features Adam Farrell (Trip the Light Fantastic at Bristol Old Vic); Luke Murphy (The Snow Queen at The New Vic Theatre), and Helen Vinten (Blood + Chocolate with Slung Low/Pilot Theatre).

The design team includes Rebecca Jane Wood (production design); Joe Price (lighting design); David Ridley (sound design and music). The production stage manager is Whitney Keeter.

Nel Crouch (director) is Artistic Director at Bucket Club. She has recently been a BBC Performing Arts Fellow, Director in Residence at Tobacco Factory Theatres, and a Jerwood Assistant Director at the Young Vic, where she assisted Richard Jones on The Trial. Directing credits include The Long Trick (VAULT Festival), Speaker (as part of the Jerwood Assistant Director programme, Young Vic), Launch Party(Bucket Club rural tour), Fossils (Bucket Club, Edinburgh Fringe), Romeo and Juliet (Handlebards international tour), The Love I Feel is Red (Tobacco Factory Theatres, Oran Mor), Lorraine & Alan (Bucket Club national tour), The Beasts (Lyric Hammersmith, Latitude), Festen (Wickham Theatre), Yellow Moon(Edinburgh Fringe). She writes Bucket Club's work and trained on the Royal Court Introduction to Playwriting course. She has a BA in Drama from the University of Bristol.

Bucket Club are a multi-award-winning associate company at Farnham Maltings, based in the south of England. They are the first recipient of the Farnham Maltings Fellowship. Their first show, Lorraine & Alan, won the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence and a Musical Theatre Award for Innovation at the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe. It went on to tour nationally including venues such as Tobacco Factory Theatres and Battersea Arts Centre. Other shows have included The Beasts, an outdoor show for families that toured festivals, and Launch Party, a play about space travel and leaving home for village halls that toured last Autumn. They bring FOSSILS to New York following a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe, where it was shortlisted for the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence.
