Taye Diggs and Andrew Palermo's Dance Company to Perform in Enigma - a Fundraiser in Montreal.
Dre.dance, a dance company directed and choreographed by Broadway veterans
Taye Diggs and
Andrew Palermo, will be travelling to Montreal, Canada on May 13th for a one-night only charity event called Enigma, created by Ashley Dana, Candice Simpson, and Melanie Weinstein.
Maintaining the motto that "what cannot be said through words can be spoken through movement," Enigma Dance Productions annually puts on a fundraiser event in Montreal, in affiliation with the Vision of Hope Charity, whose mission is to refurbish the oncology ward at the Jewish General Hospital. In its first year alone, Enigma raised over $50 000 for the charity, and this year, with a larger and more theatrical show, Enigma aims to double their earnings and spread awareness about this cause to an even broader audience. Artistic director and principal choreographer Candice Simpson says of this year's show: "prepare to delve deeper into the mystery that is Enigma, as we once again aim to get our generation involved by spreading awareness to the younger generation, through the art of dance. Expect the unexpected, and prepare for a bit of a twist. We won't just be sharing stories, we will be revealing secrets and enticing you to join our world of sinners and saints".
Taye Diggs, husband of
Idina Menzel, has starred in the Broadway productions Carousel, Chicago, Wicked, and, most notably, the original cast of Rent, in which he reprised the role of Benny in the film version. He can also currently be seen on television's Private Practice.
Andrew Palermo has appeared on Broadway in How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Annie Get Your Gun, and Wicked. Created in 2004, their contemporary company dre.dance has received much praise in the New York area, and continues to produce aesthetically pleasing, emotionally gripping, high-quality choreographies. Their work can be seen on their website,
