Irish Repertory Theatre begins its 12th season of the New Works Reading Series with a staged reading of Darren Donohue's play DUAL CATS WITH ONE CRAYFISH.

Directed by Irish Rep Literary Manager Kara Manning, the reading will take place today, October 20, 2017 at 3:00pm at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage. Tickets to the reading are free and open to the public. Seating is limited. RSVP through Irish Rep's box office by calling 212-727-2737.

The cast for DUAL CATS WITH ONE CRAYFISH will include Rajesh Bose* (Indian Ink, Disgraced); Beth Fowler* (The Boy from Oz, Earnest in Love); and Meg Gibson* (The Gabriels - Election Year in the Life of One Family, Anna Deavere Smith's Talking About Race).

Winnie Kirwan and Maeve Brennan have been friends for over forty years. When Winnie is expelled from Tuam Bowling Club for "behaviour unbecoming of a club member," it pitches her against Ranjiv Sibal, an Indian doctor determined to preserve his family's good name. Maeve acts as a peacekeeper, attempting to resolve their dispute. But she has her own agenda which threatens to consume them and trigger a violent Culture Clash. DUAL CATS WITH ONE CRAYFISH paints a portrait of modern Ireland that is rich in dark humor investigating themes of spirituality, identity and forgiveness.

The 2017-18 New Works Reading Series is underwritten in part by members of Irish Rep's Patron's Circle.

Tickets to the reading are free and open to the public. Seating is limited. RSVP through Irish Rep's box office by calling 212-727-2737. For more information about Irish Repertory Theatre visit www.irishrep.org.
