Beginning Thursday, July 29th, Daniel Robinson (The Big Gay Musical, Hairspray) steps up to the altar as he assumes the role of ‘Andrew,' one half of the happy couple, in My Big Gay Italian Wedding, the hilarious comedy now playing at St. Luke's Theatre, 308 West 46th Street.
Daniel Robinson's stage credits include Broadway's Hairspray (Fender/US Link Larkin, Corny Collins), 1st National Tour of Oklahoma! (Will Parker), and Happy Days (Potsie/US The Fonz). Most recently, Daniel starred in the hit film The Big Gay Musical, receiving rave reviews for his portrayal of Paul, all the while founding Daniel Robinson Productions, a film Production Company and nspireproject, a modern dance/media company. Through D.R.P., Daniel has collaborated with some of Broadway's biggest talents including Tony Award-winning Jerry Mitchell, with whom Daniel is in post-production on the Broadway Bares Documentary, due in 2011.
"I am thrilled to joining this fabulous wedding party," says Robinson, "And the topic could not be more timely. With gay marriage at the forefront of today's headlines, I can't think of a happier show that demonstrates that marriage is for any two individuals who love one another ...and have survived their loud and loveably dysfunctional families. The time for change is now. Come celebrate with us."
Planning a wedding can be hell... or a hell of a lot of fun! At My Big Gay Italian Wedding, Off-Broadway's hilarious new comedy by Anthony Wilkinson, two handsome grooms, one overbearing Italian mother, a jealous ex-boyfriend, the wedding planner from Hell, and an assortment of kooky family and friends all gather together for an evening with lots of laughs and lots of heart.Presented by Sonia Blangiardo, Dina Manzo (of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey") in association with Anndee Productions, Donna Dicrescento, Eileen Caruso and Frank Levinson, My Big Gay Italian Wedding currently features Daniel Robinson, Anthony J. When the original production of My Big Gay Italian Wedding premiered in 2003, the idea of gay marriage was a fantasy. So playwright Anthony Wilkinson has gone back to the typewriter and brought his acclaimed comedy into this new era of hope and optimism for same sex marriage.
