DESPERATE MEASURES Releases New Block of Tickets Through December 30th

Desperate Measures, the hit musical comedy gone wild with music by David Friedman (Listen To My Heart), book and lyrics by Peter Kellogg (Anna Karenina), and directed by Bill Castellino (Cagney, Marry Harry) has announced a new block of tickets, now on sale through December 30.

Desperate Measures plays at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues), and features: Gary Marachek (Eleanor) as Father Morse, Lauren Molina (Rock of Ages) as Bella Rose, Sarah Parnicky (Show Boat at Houston Grand Opera) as Susanna/Sister Mary Jo, Conor Ryan ("Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert") as Johnny Blood, Peter Saide (Skin Tight) as Sheriff Green, andNick Wyman (Les Misérables) as Governor von Richterhenkenpflichtgetruber with CJ Eldred (Book of Mormon National Tour), William Thomas Evans (A Tale Of Two Cities), and Celia Hottenstein (The Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary National Tour).

Desperate Measures has received 2 Drama Desk Awards (Outstanding Music - David Friedman, Outstanding Lyrics - Peter Kellogg), 1 Outer Critics Circle Award (Best New Off Broadway Musical), and 1 Off Broadway Alliance Award: Best Musical.

Desperate Measures, the hilarious new musical set in the wild west, is the story of Johnny Blood, a cowboy unjustly sentenced to death by a narcissistic governor. The governor offers to pardon Johnny if Johnny's sister, who is about to become a nun, agrees to spend one night with him. Any resemblance to current political figures is purely intentional. With the help of a tall, dark, handsome sheriff, a saloon girl with a heart of gold and a priest with a drinking problem, can justice prevail or will Johnny be left hanging? Loosely based on Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, the musical is a joyful, madcap comedy that also manages to ponder the nature of justice.

Desperate Measures features scenic design by James Morgan (Cagney, Sweeney Todd), costume design by Nicole Wee (Closer Than Ever, Storyville), lighting design byPaul Miller (Legally Blonde, The Illusionists) and sound design by Julian Evans (Tick, Tick Boom, jon and jen). David Hancock Turner (Subways Are For Sleeping, Hallelujah, Baby) serves as musical director. Casting is by Carol Hanzel (Cagney) and the production stage manager is CJ LaRoche.
