The triumphant New York return engagement of Defending the Caveman, the history-making comedy about the sexes, will end its run Sunday, May 2nd at The Downstairs Theatre at Sofia's, 221 West 46th Street, next to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, in the heart of Broadway.

This Off-Broadway engagement of Defending the Caveman began performances February 23rd for a limited eight-week engagement. Due to high demand for tickets, the show's producers Theater Mogul NA Inc., in association with Entertainment Events Inc., announced that the show will run an additional two weeks.

15 years ago, Defending the Caveman became the longest running solo show in Broadway history when it played its 702nd performance at the Helen Hayes Theatre. Caveman still holds that record today. Since that record was set, Caveman has been performed in almost 200 cities in the US and has been translated into 30 languages and produced in 45 countries around the globe. The New York Times called Defending the Caveman "a comic phenomenon."

Every night, couples are roaring with laughter and sharing knowing glances while asking the question: Could comedy give couples therapy a run for its money? With hilarious insights on contemporary feminism, masculine sensitivity and the erogenous zone, Defending the Caveman mines The Common themes in relationships that go straight through the funny bone and into the heart. Defending the Caveman makes us laugh at ourselves and all the ways that men and woman fight, laugh and love.

"An outrageously funny and surprisingly sweet exploration of the gender gap" ~ Chicago Sun-Times

"Hysterically funny! Couples who were arguing before the show stroll out holding hands." ~ Variety

Defending the Caveman was written by Rob Becker over a three-year period during which he made an informal study of anthropology, prehistory, psychology, sociology and mythology. Apparently he studied well. Caveman has touched the hearts and the funny bones of couples all around the world.

Defending the Caveman is a hilariously insightful play about the ways men and women relate. This prehistoric look at the battle of the sexes is full of wonderful scenarios that celebrate the differences between men and women, making it perfect for couples or a ‘girls' night out.' The show has also been recommended by thousands of marriage and family therapists and counselors for its humorous look at the inherent differences between the sexes.

Defending the Caveman stars Paul Perroni. In addition to the Caveman, his most memorable roles include Edmund Tyrone in Long Day's Journey into Night, Cassius in Julius Caesar, and a recurring role as Comedian/DJ Johnny Hughes in The Awesome 80's Prom. Paul has also appeared in a variety of national commercials and films including the independent short film "Sugar," which was featured at the Dick Clark Productions Theater in Los Angeles, and The Minx, which was featured at the Hong Kong Film Festival.

Performances of Defending the Caveman are Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesday through Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 5 PM, Sunday at 3 PM. Tickets are $55.00 to $70.00 and may be purchased from the Box Office on the day of show, or in advance by calling 212/947-9300 or online at www.cavemanticketsnewyork.com.
