DALLY WITH THE DEVIL to Play Beckett Theatre, 9/14-10/8

Dally With The Devil will begin performances on Saturday, September 10 and will open on September 14 running thru October 8, 2011 at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street). Just in time for election season, Victor L. Cahn's Dally With The Devil focuses on three women immersed in political intrigue: two officials from opposing campaigns compete to use a powerful blogger to influence the outcome of a Senatorial election. As charges escalate, tactics shift, and the battle swerves in unexpected directions. Dally With The Devil is filled with power plays, blackmail, and plenty of media spin...it's politics as usual.

Dally With The Devil stars Elizabeth A. Davis (The 39 Steps, The Misanthrope), Elizabeth Norment (Broadway: High, Blithe Spirit, Plenty) and Erika Rolfsrud (Exit the King, The Coast of Utopia, Rabbit Hole). The design team includes Jisun Kim (Set Designer), Michelle Eden Humphrey (Costume Designer), Pamela Kupper (Lighting Designer), and Nick Moore (Sound Designer).

Victor L. Cahn (Playwright) has written several plays that have been presented Off-Broadway/Regional: Embraceable Me, Fit To Kill, Roses In December (all published by Samuel French), and Sherlock Solo a one-man show performed by Mr. Cahn. His other produced scripts include Getting The Business, Of My Father's House, Fits Like A Glove, By Any Other Name, and Romantic Trapezoid. He has acted with theater companies throughout the Capital Region of New York, playing such roles as Wendice in Dial M For Murder, Elyot in Private Lives, Garry in Present Laughter and Felix in The Odd Couple. Victor received his AB from Columbia College, where he was Concertmaster of the University Orchestra, and his MA and PhD from New York University. He has taught at Mercersburg Academy, Pomfret School, Phillips Exeter Academy, Bowdoin College, and, for the past thirty years, at Skidmore College, where he is Professor of English. He has written five books on Shakespeare, as well as volumes on Tom Stoppard and Harold Pinter; Conquering College: A Guide for Undergraduates; the memoir Classroom Virtuoso, and Romantic Trapezoid, a novel. His articles and reviews have appeared in such varied publications as The Literary Review, Modern Drama, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The New York Times, and Variety. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild, Inc.

Eric Parness (Director) is the Artistic Director of Resonance Ensemble where he has most recently directed the production of Shakespeare's Slave by Steven Fechter. Other productions include Ibsen's The Master Builder, Reflections: An Evening of Short Plays, Sophocles' Antigone, Gorky's The Lower Depths, Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard and world premiere productions of Christopher Boal's 23 Knives, Strange Bedfellows by Bruce Cohen, La Tempestad by Larry Loebell, The Mail Order Bride by Charles L. Mee, and Sherlock Solo by Victor L. Cahn. Other directing credits include world premieres of Embraceable Me (Theatre Row and Blumenthal Performing Arts in Charlotte, NC), Fit to Kill (Theatre Row), Kryptonite City (Hypothetical Theatre Company), and Finding Louise (Oberon Theatre Ensemble), as well as revivals of Measure for Measure, Blood Wedding, Of Mice and Men and Michael Weller's Ghosts on Fire, and other new work with Adobe Theatre Company, Ensemble Studio Theatre and Vital Theater Company. He has also directed educational theatre for Marist College, Stern College and Brandeis University. Eric served as Assistant to Artistic Director Curt Dempster of Ensemble Studio Theatre and four seasons as Associate to Artistic Director Jeff Horowitz of Theatre for a New Audience. Eric is an alumnus of Brandeis University and the Lincoln Center Theater's Directors Lab, and is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
