Coyote Rep Hosts Annual Rising Moon Fundraiser 9/22

Acclaimed comedian David Lee Nelson will host this exciting star-studded event to assist Coyote REP in raising funds for its upcoming season at the beautiful Players' Club at 16 Gramercy Park in NYC. Five percent of proceeds from ticket sales and the live and silent auction will also benefit the Young Survival Coalition (Young Women United Against Breast Cancer). Coming this Fall, Coyote REP will bring The New Normal, a humorous and passionate play about a young breast cancer survivor, to the Wings Theatre for a limited 2 week run in mid October. Coyote REP's spring plans include continuing its Works in Development Series with a slate of staged readings of new plays by company members.

COYOTE REP is a not-for-profit theater company launched in 2006, dedicated to the collaborative development of original work which investigates what is mystical and extraordinary in the everyday. They are committed to supporting members' work through innovative means; Recording Sound Plays, Embracing New Media and Producing plays for the stage. A unique theater company that reaches beyond the boards, COYOTE REP strives to become a group focused on process as well as product. They seek new and exciting ways to engage in all aspects of theater and digital media and entertain their audience by channeling the history of the radio into a new existence in their innovative sound plays.

COYOTE REP's first sound play series began in September 2006 with several performances including: girl, Boy at the Window, Patriot Act, and Coyote Rising. The 2007-2008 year brought productions of Deception, The Lone Wolf Series, Stella by Starlight, the cowboy is dying, Spoiled Bea, and a play for the stage, You Got Questions? I Got Answers, by Andrea Caban, which won the New York Innovative Theater Award for Best Solo Performance.

The World Premiere of Rebecca Tourino's play, The Naked Eye Planets, premiered at The American Theater of Actor's Chernuchin Theater in March of 2010 with 16 performances and featured several members from the company. Questions My Mother Can't Answer was featured at this year's Fringe Festival, and the much anticipated, The New Normal, directed by Isaac Byrne, is scheduled to premiere at the Wings Theater from October 10-23, 2010.

COYOTE REP has received rave reviews for both their sound and stage performances and has been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and New York Cool, among others. Broadway World says, "This theater company is one to keep an eye on!" Sam Thielman of Backstage called The Naked Eye Planets "Wonderful, redemptive...a cleverly structured, well-performed drama..." Show Business Weekly calls COYOTE REP "an innovative...hip theater company."

About Broadway Star Andrew Samonsky
Andrew Samonsky recently starred as Lieutenant Joe Cable in the Broadway production of South Pacific at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater. Other Credits include National: Disney's On the Record (cast recording); Regional: Falsettos opposite Malcolm Gets and Jason Alexander (Actors' Fund), White Christmas (Denver Center), Shenandoah with Scott Bakula (Ford's Theatre), tick, tick...BOOM! (L.A. premiere), Smokey Joe's Café, Into the Woods, Forever Plaid, Once Upon a Mattress; TV: "Guiding Light." Guest soloist in concerts around the country. MFA: UC, Irvine.

About VP Boyle
VP Boyle wears many hats in the Broadway community (director, casting director, actor, writer, producer) and is most known in the theatrical casting world for creating The Musical Theatre Forum, a professional casting workshop with every major Broadway casting agency in NYC. VP currently serves as the creator and Chair of the New York Film Academy's new cutting-edge Musical Theatre & Film Conservatory Program.

About Emcee David Lee Nelson
David Lee Nelson is a professional standup comedian and actor. His work includes: Silence of Lucky, 78th Street Theatre Lab; Stupid Bitch, EST and St. Marks Church; Regional: Arms and the Man, Hamlet, The Tempest, Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Keeping Watch, Lobby Hero (as Director), Piccolo Spoleto. David holds an MFA from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and a BA from the College of Charleston.

Emily Bohannon is a playwright and actress originally from Georgia. She has written 9 plays, and recently received an Artists' Fellowship for Playwrighting from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
