Cherry Lane Theatre Sets Lineup for 3rd Annual Cherry Lane School This Fall

Cherry Lane Theatre has announced the line-up for its third annual Cherry Lane School, an initiative that features panel discussions and intimate workshop sessions with leading members of the theatre community.

Sessions will include audition preparation, acting, playwriting and screenwriting, and a conversation with Broadway designers.

The seminars will take place at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) from October 16 to 28.

Registration will be open beginning September 26, 2017. The cost to attend individual events is $30 for the first session, with additional classes priced at $20 each. The panel discussions are FREE. For registration, additional details and schedule updates, visit www.CherryLaneTheatre.org.

PLAYWRIGHT PANEL - Monday, October 16 at 7pm - will feature Sheila Callaghan, (Princess Grace Award, Susan Smith Blackburn Award, Whiting Award and former Cherry Lane Mentor. She wrote Lascivious Something which began at the Mentor Project and went on to be co-produced by Cherry Lane Theatre, Sarah Einspanier (The Convent of Pleasure, Cherry Lane Mentor Project), Paola Lázaro (Tell Hector I Miss Him, Atlantic Theater Company), Migdalia Cruz (Awards include Helen Merrill Distinguished Playwright Award, Kennedy Center's Fund for New American Plays. Over 50 plays include Another Part of The House, The Have-little, SALT) and more. This event is FREE to the Public.

DESIGNING WOMEN PANEL - Monday, October 23 at 7pm - moderated by Victoria Myers (editor-in-chief of The Interval) and featuring Costume Designer Dede Ayite (Upcoming: Jesus Hopped The A Train at Signature), Sound Designer Jill BC Du Boff (Hand To God on Broadway), Lighting Designer Peggy Eisenhauer (3 -time Tony Award recipient), Scenic Designer Rachel Hauck (Upcoming: Latin History For Morons on Broadway), and Lighting Designer Porsche McGovern (We Are Proud To Present... at Playmakers Repertory Company). This event is FREE to the Public.

WRITING MASTER CLASS - Tuesday, October 24 at 7pm - with Matt Williams, creator of the hit TV series "Roseanne" and "Home Improvement".

WRITING WORKSHOP - Wednesday, October 25 at 3pm - with Webb Wilcoxen (LAByrinth Theater Company; Musical: Cynthia and the Dreadful Kite).

ACTING SEMINAR - Wednesday, October 25 at 6:30pm - with Lynn Cohen (TV: "Sex in the City," Film: The Hunger Games. Drama Desk and Lortel nominations and recently seen at Cherry Lane in Horton Foote's The Traveling Lady).

PLAYWRITING MASTER CLASS - Thursday, October 26 at 3pm - with Janet Neipris, Professor Emeritus of Graduate Playwriting and Screenwriting, Department of Dramatic Writing, NYU's Tisch School of the Arts; author of To Be a Playwright.

MASTER CLASS IN PREPARING FOR THEATER AUDITIONS - Thursday, October 26 at 7pm - with casting director Kate Murray (casting director for Cherry Lane Mentor Project; Casting Director, The Public Theater)

MOVEMENT WORKSHOP - Friday, October 27 at 2pm - with David Anzuelo (Broadway: Tuck Everlasting, Disgraced)

ACTING WORKSHOP - Friday, October 27 at 6pm - with actress Angelina Fiordellisi, Founder of Cherry Lane Alternative, star of Broadway's Zorba and recent Off-Broadway: The Traveling Lady, Out of the Mouths of Babes at Cherry Lane).

ACTING WORKSHOP - Saturday, October 28, 12pm - 4pm - with Portia (LAByrinth Theater Company. NYC: The Way Way West, Queen for a Day)

Cherry Lane Theatre (Seri Lawrence, Janio Marrero, Co-Artistic Directors) season will include the 20th Anniversary of the Obie Award-winning MENTOR PROJECT, The Surgeon And Her Daughters by Christopher Gabriel Núñez and Charles Mee's First Love, directed by Kim Weild.

One of the most renowned theatres in the country, Cherry Lane Theatre has produced a large succession of plays by leading writers like Edward Albee, Sam Shepard, and Harold Pinter. Angelina Fiordellisi restored and revived Cherry Lane in 1996, and it remains devoted to developing and producing new works for the stage through its various programs including the award-winning Mentor Project, which each year pairs established playwrights with emerging writers for a season of dramaturgy, rehearsal, casting and production. Mentor Project recently concluded its 19th season with mentors Lucy Thurber, Stephen Adly Guirgis and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.

Angelina Fiordellisi is Founding Artistic Director of Cherry Lane Theatre; Seri Lawrence and Janio Marrero are Co-Artistic Directors, Diane Alianiello is General Manager, Hillary Cohen is Director of Individual and Institutional Giving and Reed Ridgley is Development Manager.
