Cherry Lane Theatre has announced the line-up for its third annual Cherry Lane School, an initiative that features panel discussions and intimate workshop sessions with leading members of the theatre community.
Sessions will include audition preparation, acting, playwriting and screenwriting, and a conversation with Broadway designers.
The seminars will take place at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) from October 16 to 28.
Registration will be open beginning September 26, 2017. The cost to attend individual events is $30 for the first session, with additional classes priced at $20 each. The panel discussions are FREE. For registration, additional details and schedule updates, visit www.CherryLaneTheatre.org.
PLAYWRIGHT PANEL - Monday, October 16 at 7pm - will feature Sheila Callaghan, (Princess Grace Award, Susan Smith Blackburn Award, Whiting Award and former Cherry Lane Mentor. She wrote Lascivious Something which began at the Mentor Project and went on to be co-produced by Cherry Lane Theatre, Sarah Einspanier (The Convent of Pleasure, Cherry Lane Mentor Project), Paola Lázaro (Tell Hector I Miss Him, Atlantic Theater Company), Migdalia Cruz (Awards include Helen Merrill Distinguished Playwright Award, Kennedy Center's Fund for New American Plays. Cherry Lane Theatre (Seri Lawrence, Janio Marrero, Co-Artistic Directors) season will include the 20th Anniversary of the Obie Award-winning MENTOR PROJECT, The Surgeon And Her Daughters by Christopher Gabriel Núñez and Charles Mee's First Love, directed by Kim Weild.
One of the most renowned theatres in the country, Cherry Lane Theatre has produced a large succession of plays by leading writers like Edward Albee, Sam Shepard, and Harold Pinter. Angelina Fiordellisi restored and revived Cherry Lane in 1996, and it remains devoted to developing and producing new works for the stage through its various programs including the award-winning Mentor Project, which each year pairs established playwrights with emerging writers for a season of dramaturgy, rehearsal, casting and production. Mentor Project recently concluded its 19th season with mentors Lucy Thurber, Stephen Adly Guirgis and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.
