CSC's ALLEGRO, Starring Clybourne Elder, Malcolm Gets and More, Opens Tonight

Classic Stage Company presents its new production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's ALLEGRO, directed by Tony Award-winner and CSC Associate Director John Doyle, at CSC (136 East 13th Street) through Sunday, December 14. The official opening night of ALLEGRO is tonight, November 19.

The cast of ALLEGRO features George Abud (Charlie Townsend), Alma Cuervo (Grandma Taylor), Elizabeth A. Davis (Jenny Brinker), Claybourne Elder (Joseph Taylor Jr.), David Finch (understudy), Malcolm Gets (Joe Taylor Sr.), Maggie Lakis (Hazel), Megan Loomis (Beulah), Paul Lincoln (Brook Lansdale), Kara Mikula (understudy), Jane Pfitsch (Emily), Randy Redd (Dr. Bigby Denby), Ed Romanoff (Ned Brinker) and Jessica Tyler Wright (Marjorie Taylor).

ALLEGRO is the story of Joe Taylor, Jr. from cradle to early manhood in this loving and wise exploration of America's coming of age, as seen through the eyes of a young physician learning about the mysteries of life and death. ALLEGRO marks the second installment of CSC's Musical Theater Initiative, which launched last year with the company's hugely-successful production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Passion, directed by Doyle. Considered one of Richard Rodgers' and Oscar Hammerstein II's most personal and groundbreaking works, ALLEGRO was their third collaboration and first premiered on Broadway in 1947. Scenic design for ALLEGRO is by John Doyle, costume design is by Tony Award winner Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Jane Cox and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier.

ALLEGRO performs Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7 pm; Fridays at 8 pm; Saturdays at 3 pm and 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm.
