CRUMBS FROM THE TABLE OF JOY begins Monday, March 9, 2009 at 7:00pm, by Lynn Nottage
is directed by Seret Scott, with Laura Heisler ( Doris to Darlene, The Mistakes Madeline Made), Sadrina Johnson (The Book of Lambert, Southern Promises), Billy EuGene Jones (A Raisin in the Sun), Brenda Pressley (The First Breeze of Summer, Seven Guitars at Signature, and American Plan at Manhattan Theatre Club), Amina S. Robinson (Mamma Mia!)
Commissioned by Second Stage Theatre in 1992

Following their mother's passing, Ernestine and Ermina move to Brooklyn where the collision of their traditional father with their free-spirited aunt force the two girls to find their own path into adulthood. This heartfelt play delves into the moment when we discover we've grown up.

Lynn Nottage is one of Second Stage Theatre's Time Warner commissioned playwrights and a winner of the 2007 MacArthur Fellowship. Her most recent plays include Intimate Apparel and Ruined, currently running at Manhattan Theatre Club.

Seret Scott has directed Birdie Blue and Zooman and the Sign at Second Stage Theatre.

"Imagine a pairing...between Tennessee Williams and Lorraine Hansberry, a memory play about a black family, a glass menagerie in the sun... Crumbs from the Table of Joy [is] a small window into the past, and this almost voyeuristic glimpse is worth attention." - The New York Post
