On Saturday, January 15, New York-based writer/actress Ebony Washington returns to the New York City stage with a much-anticipated new production of her acclaimed CROSSLINES: A Black Woman's Perspective on American Politics at the Spoon Theater in Midtown, NYC.
CROSSLINES takes a comical, yet very serious look at American politics in the Bush era and the promise of change in the Obama era in this one-woman play. Through CROSSLINES, Washington hopes to inspire her audiences to become more politically aware and socially active. The play was first presented at NYC's Downtown Urban Theater Festival.
Washington was featured in the off-Broadway production "A Message in our Music" and her writings have been published in various publications including Essence Magazine. Her awards include a fellowship in Music Composition from New York Foundation of the Arts and top prize at the 2003 Aretha Franklin/Nikki Giovanni Poetry Competition, sponsored by BET and Sony Music, and judged by Nikki Giovanni herself.
CROSSLINES: A Black Woman's Perspective on American Politics, will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011 at The Spoon Theater, 38 West 38th Street, 5th floor, NYC.
