Written and performed by Collin Quinn, THE NEW YORK STORY is directed by
Jerry Seinfeld. A critical and popular success Off-Broadway, COLLIN QUINN - THE NEW YORK STORY has been a New York Times and Time Out New York Critics Pick. The New York Post declared the play Mr. Quinn's "best work yet."
The production is scheduled to conclude this Off-Broadway engagement on January 31.
In COLIN QUINN - THE NEW YORK STORY, Mr. Quinn waxes nostalgic about his hometown NYC, from its beginnings as a Dutch outpost in colonial times to the hipsters of Williamsburg today. The show finds Mr. Quinn at his satirical best, taking aim at the prejudice, paranoias and peculiarities that make New York City the Crossroads of the World.
Quinn is a comedian, actor and writer, enduringly popular throughout his stint with SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. His solo stage works include LONG STORY SHORT, MY TWO CENTS and AN IRISH WAKE.
One of the most renowned theatres in the country,
Cherry Lane Theatre has produced a large succession of plays by leading writers from
F. Scott Fitzgerald to
Gertrude Stein,
Samuel Beckett,
Edward Albee and
Harold Pinter. Under the artistic leadership of
Angelina Fiordellisi since 1996, Cherry Lane remains devoted to developing and producing new works for the stage through its various programs including the award-winning Mentor Project, which each year pairs established playwrights with emerging writers for a season of dramaturgy, rehearsal, casting and production. Mentor Project returns this season for its 18th season with mentors
Rajiv Joseph,
Katori Hall and
Sheila Callaghan, marking the first time in the program's history that formerly mentored playwrights return to Cherry Lane as mentors to other playwrights.
