On Thursday, January 29th & Friday, January 30th DanceTracks NYC will present “Let’s Dance.” at The Clark Studio Theater, Samuel B. and David Rose Building, 70 Lincoln Center Plaza, 7th Floor.
DTNYC, established in 1999, presents choreographic works to the public by emerging artists, as well as, provides production support for established choreographers demonstrating high artistic merit.
The program this weekend will open with a new piece by Broadway dancer James Kinney. The dancer/budding choreographer recently heard a recording of Stephen Sondheim’s “Another Hundred” People” from the modern master’s iconic musical, set in New York City - COMPANY - and felt he had to stage it. The version that became his inspiration was recorded in 1987, in London, with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by the legendary Paul Gemignani, with an orchestration by Luther Henderson. James was able to corral some of his friends and fellow dancers to bring this to life, in what may eventually become a lengthier theatrical suite or dance piece.
His dancers are:
Ashley Bachner
Brian Beach
Jessica Dillan
Samantha Sturm
Keven Quillon
Brandon Tyler Fields
and Greer Gisy
