The Kaleidoscope Theatre Company presents the comedy Carl and Shelly, Best Friends Forever, written and performed by Andrea Alton and Allen Warnock, at Theatre 3 (311 West 43rd St.). Directed by Janice L. Goldberg, Carl and Shelly, Best Friends Forever performs February 6 through 28, 2010 with an opening on February 9.
With a little help from '80s sitcoms, poetry, and hot glue, Carl and Shelly, hosts of the outrageously popular public access show Poetry Craft Corner, are bonded for life. When "another woman," a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and ravenous roaches threaten their relationship, will they remain Carl & Shelly, Best Friends Forever? A one-act comedy about friendship, Alf and forgiveness.
When Carl and Shelly, Best Friends Forever premiered at the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival, HyReviews.com raved that Andrea Alton and Allen Warnock are "delightful comedic talents who deserve careers in TV and film. If you like to laugh, come see this." NYTheatre.com praised the duo for their "impressive versatility and charisma."
Previews of Carl and Shelly, Best Friends Forever begin Saturday, February 6th with the show's official opening on Tuesday, February 9th. All performances take place at Theatre 3 (311 West 43rd Street, 3rd Floor; between 8th and 9th Ave.; Subway: A/C/E to 42nd St.). Tickets are $18 at http://www.theatermania.com or (212) 352-3101.
